Fish Check

Tossed some bread out to check for fish. Results: negative, they are still in the deep water.

It was quite windy as you can see from the water.

Care to guess

Where was this picture taken?

Give up?

I'll give a hint. It is under six inches of moving water.

Now you know; it is from our stream behind the house. Nice clear drinking water huh!

Field trip

With all of the rains we decided to walk up our not so placid stream to catch some interesting waterfalls.

This first one you can see from our deck.

The next two are further up the stream where we were finally stopped by heavy underbrush.

You can click on the pictures for an enlargement.

It was a pretty Sunday and the first time we hiked up the stream.

New softball season

Our 13th ranked team in America is off to a good start this season. Our two best pitchers have already pitched a no-hitter and the team has won 7 of 9 games.

Yesterday they beat the number 7th ranked team in the nation 12-2.

Our senior and best pitcher Maddie Monroe has been an all-star the last three years. Her record is 4-0 already this season.

Our second best pitcher is also a solid hitter at the plate. She is only in her second year and has two more left after this season.

First sign of spring

The first sign of spring appears. It looks like the groundhog did not see his shadow this year. This is the earliest appearance of spring in a long time.

It is always exciting to see the forest come alive. Coming next will be the tree frogs and the sound of the forest coming alive.

Click on the second picture for a pretty blow up.

Doctor break

Mother had an appointment in Marietta this morning and I had one in the afternoon in Woodstock.

The Marietta Fish Market was located between the two locations and since her appointment was at 10:45am and mine was 1:15pm it was a no-brainer where we would eat lunch.

No, we did not indulge in a dessert.

Hockey Sunday

The five of us: John, Marilyn, Derek, Suzanne and I attended the Gwinnett Gladiators game against the Florida Everblades.

We had very good seats near center ice.

In the third period there was a penalty shot which provided for a good picture and the Everblades scored.

Every time we scored Marilyn got kissed.

Unfortunately that was only once and we lost 3-1.

Hockey week

This past weekend we met up with Derek and Marilyn Kratzer Smith (Tom and Mary Kratzer's daughter) at John Griffin's residence  in Hartwell for hockey week. Derek and I went to the Saturday night game and then we all went to the game on Sunday.

The ice was painted pink for cancer awareness. It took 2 1/2 hours to paint the rink pink.

Here is the mascot in front of us entertaining a small child fan.

A band played for us in between periods.

We played the Florida Everblades who were last years ECHL champions and you can see we lost. Tomorrow the Sunday game will be posted.

Backwoods Kennel & Cattery

Do you know what a Maine Coon cat is? I didn't until this trip to Alabama.

First, we had to drive two miles down a dirt road.

Then, we were greeted by this sign.

This is a Maine Coon. (only 18 months old). They grow to 25 pounds.

The owner showed us his favorite.

You can go to www.backwoodszoocrew.com to find out how they got their name Maine Coons and see some interesting pictures.

Alabama Trip

We were invited to go to Alabama with another couple today to see some Maine Coons.

On the way we stopped in Cave Spring, GA  for lunch.

The food was good but two pictures inside caught my eye.

Tomorrow we will post the visit to the Backwoods Kennel & Cattery in Alabama that we toured today.

LOST LANDMARK

A neighbor came over today and the two of us dislodged  the boat from the shore. We tied four ropes together to reach over to our dock and then pulled it free.

Here he is taking it back

To its rightful owner; his brother-in-law.

What a great brother-in-law.WOW
